Money is something, but not everything, whatever you work 10 years in the same field, how good does you learn from your job will reflect back how it payback, be consider of your experiences and behaviour

in Financial Services industry, 50K is standard for 10 yr experience regardless of job types.

仲要係financial services industry入面既i-Bank, 先有呢.
如果係software vendor, 又或者甚至喺exchange入面做,
人工分分鐘噏多次都冇呢個數!

or even business knowledge.
It's something non-technical and non-business stuff.

甚至乜<禁>都唔<禁>識,
運氣都左右住你揾幾多.

打你識得高層,
中層係唔放行,
你都係冇符!

就算放行,
一個四川地震,
就可以令到招聘既決定逆轉!

老闆/大佬點解要俾機會一個人,
可能唔係因為佢識幾多嘢,
佢肯唔肯做, 鍾唔鍾意做,
可能係唔知點解佢like你.

比如話有個人叫阿炳,
咁啱interviewer細時俾個叫阿炳既人,
打過一鑊, 又或者條女俾比佢搶咗,
咁呢個叫阿炳既人都可能冇運行!

All depends on luck... to get 50k in 10 years, assuming starting pay is 15k, that will be 3.5k per year for 10 years.  A bit difficult in IT industries considering that IT can be outsourced to other countries..

It is a bit difficult for now.
But before 97,
I took me much much less time to achieve 50k.

PS: And the price tag of an apartment was much much cheaper back then.

我做 I.T. 都 13 年
由最初 $4000 做到剛剛 I.T. 唔做都係 $20000
依家轉會計師樓係跌到 $18000 不過無咁辛苦都值得
