In many respects, the 2013 Volvo C70 can serve as a reminder of how good convertibles can be—with a clean, attractive design, a tight-fitting folding hardtop, top-notch cabin appointments, and a knockout core set of luxury and safety features. And it lands in a sweet spot that many will appreciate—definitely more affordable and down-to-earth than the likes of the Jaguar XK Convertible or Mercedes-Benz E Class Cabriolet, but way more of an image-builder than a Chrysler 200 rental-car drop-top. And the price? It's somewhere in between.

In any case, the C70 remains one of the best-looking convertibles on the market--looking clean and cohesive, especially in top-down mode. The smooth folding hardtop arrangement remains the center of attention; it takes just 30 seconds to lower and folds intricately out of sight. And thankfully, it's a typical Volvo design inside, with a clean, sophisticated look. Aluminum trim and sculpted wood serve to highlight.

The 2013 C70 packs a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine provides 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It feels potent, too, with peak torque arriving at just 1,500 rpm. But with a five-speed automatic transmission and a rather light steering feel, you'll never mistake it for a sports car. The C70 is on the hefty side for its quite compact dimensions, and it feels like it on serpentine canyon roads. Nevertheless, it's peppy and satisfying for freeways and boulevard cruising, and 60 mph arrives in 7.5 seconds, with an electronically limited 150-mph top speed. Fuel economy ratings are respectable, at 18 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

Space isn't abundant, but it's better than most convertibles. You'll find enough room in the trunk for a couple of golf bags even with the top down; with the top up, it's just about sedan-sized. Front seats are very supportive and up to the comfort standards of those in other Volvos.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, the C70 also serves to point out what's not so desirable about some convertible designs. A recent follow-up drive with the C70 served to remind us how much stiffer and sturdier convertible designs have come in recent years. Over bumpy roads, the C70 has more cowl shake than typical.

That's not to say the C70 isn't safe; in fact, based on Volvo's reputation for safety, it's likely one of the best top-down choices you could make if it's one of your top concerns. Safety gear includes roll-over protection, pedestrian protection, whiplash protection, front, side, and curtain airbags, a collapsible steering column, and much more. And the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated the C70 'good' for all measures.

The C70's list of standard features was already strong, and Volvo's made it even better for 2013. Headlight washers and rain-sensor wipers have been made standard; a Bluetooth hands-free calling is included; and auxiliary/USB inputs, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and steering wheel audio controls are as well—in addition to a lengthy roster of luxury-level conveniences. Volvo's navigation system can be added as part of a package, as can rear park assist and premium audio. For 2013, Volvo has also carried over last year's Inscription Package, which boosts power to 250 hp (and 273 lb-ft of torque) and provides active HID headlamps, a leather-covered dash, and a long list of extras. All C70s also now come with fully synthetic motor oil, which boosts service intervals to 10,000 miles.

Volkswagen Scirocco



Scirocco 的命名來自於「撒哈拉沙漠吹向北非與南歐等地中海沿岸的強風」,作為Volkswagen 史上最成功雙門跑車,Scirocco不論在車身設計到內裝質感都展現出Volkswagen全新世代設計風格。自1974年第一代上市以來,以傲視同儕的駕馭樂趣、兼顧安全與日常生活需求的跑車設計特色廣受歡迎、在車迷心目中建立傳奇地位。

Scirocco 車身長4,256 mm、寬1,810mm、車高1,404mm。整體外觀傳達出強而有力與充滿運動感的跑車線條。Scirocco車頭鍍鉻氙氣頭燈整合在專屬燻黑頭燈組中,更顯銳利有神。透過與車身同色的前保桿,將頭燈與下方的專屬蜂巢水箱護罩分隔成兩個區域。重新設計的 Volkswagen標誌放置引擎蓋上,風格獨具外更體現設計巧思。

雙門四座跑車,其前後四座均為符合人體工學跑車座椅,提供乘坐人員優異的側向支撐包覆性。左右五五分離的後座椅放倒後,行李空間可由 312升提升至1006升,空間運用更自由。其他內裝配備如機油溫度表、電子液晶里程錶、防夾單鍵觸控電動窗、前座雙置杯架、前座門邊置物格、12V電源插座、行李箱鎖遙控開啟等等。


承襲跑車設計概念,Scirocco 搭配三幅式真皮多功能方向盤附排檔撥片,方向盤下幅飾以金屬飾板,加上油門上的跑車式防滑鋁合金踏板,在動感氛圍下透露出不凡的質感,另配備Volkswagen RCD 510觸控式面板音響主機系統,倒車時也可透過彩色圖像式駐車輔助系統提供影、音警示。

配備有全尺寸雙前座安全氣囊、全車式側面氣囊與雙前座側氣囊、雙前座頭枕頭部保護裝置,另搭配ABS 防鎖死煞車系統、EDL 電子防滑差速器、ASR 加速循跡防滑控制系統與ESP 行車穩定系統等。

Like any of the models in the German car maker’s lineup, the MF4-S fits the keywords; retro and sporty. Wiesmann is a manufacturer of purist sports cars, combining the unique design with technology from many major car brands, for instance BMW. Since its foundation by Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann in 1988, the Wiesmann name has stood for the manufacturing of individual sports cars whose every detail is crafted by hand. The Coupe MF4-S we had for testing was fitted with winter tires and offered a black-on-black combo inside and out.

The basic setup of the S version brings us first to a short explanation about the ‘normal’ MF4. The S version finds its roots in the normal version, which is currently powered by a 4.4 liter V8 twin-turbo front-mid-positioned engine providing 407hp and 600Nm of maximum torque. The engine is linked to only a six-speed automatic sports gearbox which allows you to reach a top speed of 291km/h and 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

The ‘faster’ Gran Turismo we drove comes with a high-revving 4.0 liter V8 engine derived from the current BMW M3, which delivers 420hp and 400Nm of torque. You can choose between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. The difference between the engine setups is noticeable and the characteristic of the engine differs widely, but offers the driver similar performance. The acceleration from standstill to 100km/h is done in 4.4 seconds and the top speed is two km/h higher than the MF4.

The main difference between the two is the weight. The MF-4S is 75kg lighter than the standard model and offers an improved power-to-weight ratio as a result. In both cases the roadster is only five kilogram heavier than the Coupe, which is quite an achievement when it comes to open-top driving.

Externally the GT MF4-S differs in some design and aerodynamic details from the GT MF-4. The outer look is still sporty and elegant, with sleek lines along the body structure. The rear shows a speed dependent slide out wing, which can be also controlled manually via a button on the dashboard. The front has, as standard, bi-xenon headlamps and an reshaped front spoiler. The collection of changes to the exterior give the MF4-S a boulder look and more sporty features. The vintage feeling is available all-around the design, it offers a unique sight in anybody’s rear view mirror and somehow resembles the British sports car icons from the past.

On the inside, the list of options is endless. Numerous luxury bespoke specifications are available and customers can opt for any type of handmade leather interior, ranging from the tastefully understated to the wonderfully vulgar. Special touches with respect to the S feature the obligatory numbered and signed plaque. Only thirty examples of the MF4-S were offered initially at the release, but any customer with the urge to get themselves a Wiesmann, can ask the Wiesmann brothers, Martin and Friedhelm, for their personal tailored sports car.

The drive in a Wiesmann fulfills any type of petrolhead’s dream. Many people will underestimate the sports car at first sight, because of its looks and presence. But after the first few meters inside an MF3, MF4 or MF5 your initial feeling drastically changes. A Wiesmann is in our opinion one of the best examples of what a sports car should let you experience.

Inside the MF4-S the world is cropped to just below shoulder height. In front of you there is a long hood and just behind your ass, two rear wheels driven by the V8 engine. The tiny cabin offers more than enough space for larger passengers. The small steering wheel is all you need to lay down exact cornering maneuvers. Pushing the starter button, means starting the experience. A wonderful growl comes from the back accompanied by an addictive increase in sound track when you floor the throttle. Naturally aspirated Wiesmann’s sound so much better than the turbocharged models.

A Wiesmann feels at home on twisty mountain or country roads. It constantly urges you to take every single corner with a momentum hardly grasped by your mind. The grip is excellent, the steering feel wonderful, and the power build-up linear. The gearbox stands out up to the point that you would never consider opting for a manual anymore. The paddle shifters behind the steering wheel are small, but large enough to be controlled well. The automatic mode of the gearbox is hardly ever used because shifts are a total event, especially downshifts. The ride is wonderful, not too firm and the gecko is easily controllable.

The Light Commercial Vehicle market in China is up 3% year-on-year in August to 350,293 registrations, to be compared with 226,455 in the whole of Germany or 405,511 in Brazil. For the second month in a row, Chinese manufacturer Wuling monopolises the podium, placing the Wuling Sunshine in pole position for the 21st consecutive time.

現行的VW Beetle從1998丁場以來,至今已經邁入了第12個年頭,儘管在外型上仍然相當出眾討喜,但是已經十分年邁的車型世代,已經很難在銷售成績上有所突破,以美國市場為例,1998年的銷售高峰時有8.3萬輛的規模,但在2009年僅剩下1.4萬輛的水準而已,因此VW集團已計畫在2012年將推出新世代的Beetle來延續這經典車型的傳承。

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD)

The Vauxhall Antara can be equipped with an electronically controlled all-wheel drive train. In normal driving conditions the power is delivered to the front wheels. But in difficult or slippery conditions it will automatically engage the AWD, distributing the power 50:50 front to rear, for optimal traction.

DESCENT CONTROL SYSTEM (DCS)

The Vauxhall Antara is fitted with an incline Descent Control System (DCS) as standard equipment. Activating the DCS maintains a constant descent speed which is preselected using the accelerator.


ELECTRONIC DRIVING SYSTEMS

The Vauxhall Antara uses highly developed electronic driver-support systems to enhance active safety. It also offers:

Cornering brake control (CBC), which improves stability when braking in curves by reducing brake pressure on the inner wheels.
Hydraulic brake assistance (HBA), which automatically increases braking pressure when the driver steps heavily on the brake, progressively increasing the pressure to the maximum, thus dramatically reducing braking distance.
An Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which includes standard Traction Control (TC), a DCS, a Trailer Stability Programme (TSP) and Hill Start Assist (HSA), which eases starting and eliminates roll-back on gradients.

The perfect interplay of these systems with the intelligent AWD not only delivers a high degree of driving satisfaction and comfort, but also high reserves of active safety.

福士甲蟲(Volkswagen Beetle),正式名稱為福士1型(Volkswagen Type 1),是由福士汽車在1938年至2003年間生產的一款小型轎車。
雖然「甲蟲(Beetle)」這個名稱很早就被公眾所接受,但直到1967年8月,福士汽車才正式在市場上使用這個名字。而在此這前,歐洲市場銷售的該款車都是以「Type I」或「1200」、「1300」、「1500」這些引擎排氣量來命名的。

1998年,在最初的甲蟲下線許多年以後,福士汽車正式推出了外形與原先非常相似的新甲蟲(以福士高爾夫為平台),而甲蟲則在VW墨西哥廠和其他少數一些國家一直生產到2003年,共生產出21,529,464輛第一代甲蟲,是全球史上各款汽車中的最暢銷車。

甲蟲採後置引擎後輪驅動,空出車頭較大的空間作行李箱。引擎為氣冷式設計。其散熱效率雖不如今日普遍的水冷式,但在嚴寒冬天不必擔心水箱結凍,在二戰軍用版上更是實用。

甲蟲底盤為密封式,掉入水裏也不會馬上下沉,甚至可以當作船隻使用。

veyron Grandsport的动力系统与威航16.4规格相同。W16发动机采用4涡轮增压技术,配合7速DSG变速器,在2200转就能达到1250牛�米的扭矩。自然,在2.7秒内完成百公里加速对威龙GrandSport来说是区区小事。与之相对的,这部速度机器100到0公里的制动距离仅为31.4米,只需短短2.3秒。这是由于威航GrandSport采用了尺寸达400毫米的碳纤陶瓷刹车盘和前8活塞制动卡钳。

ULTIMA GTR
The Ultima GTR is a sports car manufactured by Ultima Sports Ltd of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England, and described by commentators as a supercar. The car is available both in kit form and as a "turnkey" vehicle. The design is mid engined, rear wheel drive layout, with a tubular steel space frame chassis and GRP bodywork. A convertible version called the Ultima Can-Am is also produced. Kit builders are free to source and fit a variety of engines and transmissions but the Chevrolet small block V8 supplied by American Speed mated to either a Porsche or Getrag transaxle is the factory recommended standard, and this configuration is fitted to all turnkey cars.

Recently Ultima have focused their marketing efforts on record-breaking activities using a model equipped with a 640 bhp (477 kW) American Speed engine, which is called the Ultima GTR640, and subsequently, a 720 bhp (537 kW) engine which is called the GTR720. As a result, they have established the following official, independently verified records for a production car equipped with road tyres and exhaust:

    Fastest 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time: 2.6 seconds
    Fastest 0-100 mph (160 km/h) time: 5.3 seconds
    Fastest 30 mph (48 km/h)-70 mph (110 km/h) time: 1.8 seconds
    Fastest 100 mph (160 km/h)- 0 mph time: 3.6 seconds
    Fastest 0-100 mph (160 km/h)- 0 mph time: 9.4 seconds
    Best performance on a skidpad: 1.176g lateral grip in a 200 ft (60 m) circle.
    Fastest road car over the 1/4 mile: 9.9 seconds @ 143 mph (230 km/h)

Due to its kerb weight of 990 kg (2,183 lb), the power-to-weight ratio for the GTR720 is 727 hp (542 kW) per tonne, which is a better ratio than the Bugatti Veyron, Enzo Ferrari, Ascari A10, Koenigsegg CCX or CCGT (but less than the Koenigsegg CCXR), it's also lesser to the Caparo T1. However, the Ultima chassis is rated for engines up to 1,000 bhp (700 kW) and some of Ultima's customers have fitted engines producing 1,000 bhp (700 kW) or more, for a power-to-weight ratio of over 1,000 hp (746 kW) per tonne, which is approximately twice the power-to-weight ratio of the aforementioned cars and nearly the same as the Caparo T1's (1170 hp/tonne, but this is a "dry" tonnage and the hp/tonne would be reduced once oil, coolant, gasoline, etc. are added, compared to the Ultima figures above which are "wet" weights).

The GTR720 has been independently timed lapping the Top Gear test track in 1 minute 12.8 seconds, which is over 2 seconds faster than all other times listed on the Top Gear television programme's Power Board. In October 2009 Ultima set another time of 1 minute 9.9 seconds, but this time in a configuration not suitable for use on public highways. Ultima have been keen to point out that this time is faster than those set by both the Ferrari FXX and the Caparo T1; of which neither were deemed to be acceptable road cars by the Top Gear presenters shortly after these times were set.

有著純正丹麥血統的公司,創立的唯一目的就是要以手工打造一輛舉世無雙的超級跑車,Zenvo的目的將在2009年內達成,ST1的原型車已經在2008年完成測試,並在今年開始量產。

超級限量版

雖然Zenvo號稱將會把ST1投入生產,但其所規劃的總產量僅有15輛,甚至比B-Engineering所製造的Edonis還要稀少。Zenvo方面表示,在車輛正式生產後,將會透過特定的經銷商向全世界發售這輛車;我們的疑問是,如果限量15部,還需要什麼經銷商跟代理商呢?

速度至上

手工打造的超級跑車、限量15部發售,售價1600萬克朗(約9700萬台幣),售價甚至比Bugatti Veyron還高,這輛車非得要有堅強的性能與實力才行,當然Zenvo不會砸了自家招牌,ST1擁有0~100km/h加速3.2秒,極速375km/h的實力;原本Zenvo預估ST1的0~100km/h加速成績為3.0秒,3.2秒則是原型測試車在冬季所測出的成積,若是在夏季進行測試,應可達到預估的數據。

雙增壓引擎

ST1車上搭載一具7.0升V8引擎,有某些未經證實的說法指出引擎本體是由GM提供,它的排氣量與氣門機械結構都讓人聯想到Corvette車上的LS7引擎,雖然說LS7引擎原本即已擁有輕量化的鋁合金本體以及高達500hp的動力輸出,但「超跑」可不能只有這般水準,Zenvo為這具引擎裝上了機械與渦輪增壓雙系統,壓榨出驚人的1104hp/6900rpm、145.9kgm/4500rpm,採用中置後驅設計,並且搭配六速手排變速箱,我們實在懷疑ST1的後輪是否足以有效傳輸如此強大的動力。
