In the US market during the past 20 years, German cars were dominating the luxury section for sure, which is due to a combination of reasons. For example, American only focus on high margin truck/suv in the 90's. Jap were trying to grow in the economic vehicle section.

But now the landscape is changing. Lexus has the biggest market share and they are proudly selling vehicle above 100 large. The last generation Acura TL battled the whole BMW 3 series with only 3 option levels, while BMW 3 had like 6 engines 4 body styles. Also in the sports sedan section German actually is losing ground to Infinity as well as Cadillac.

The only mass production Lexus for sale above $100k is LS600h, and it's not selling well. They do sell loads of RX since the first generation though.

The 3 series is still dominating the small entry level luxury/sports sedan market, with BMWNA's aggressive leasing program.

日本車科技好貼近德國車,而日本車更體貼、更精巧。
車廂內,揸日本車嘅發學好易搵到位擺銀包、手機、散紙包。
德國車,上咗車發覺中控台想擺低手機嘅位都無,雖然樣樣嘢都好似好實淨。
德國車就係實淨感已經贏哂!
仲用,細cc低壓Turbo引擎,低消耗高扭力,似乎日本車未做到!

日本廠放太多資源喺hybrid, CVT等技術,未完全歸本or未賺夠,要換引擎真係一個大decision

日本投放資源研究混能/電能係好事,因為歐美政府背後嘅石油黑手會對歐美車廠開發電能阻頭阻勢。
反而日本車廠賺咗咁多年,而石油黑手勢力相對比歐美車廠少,e次由日本車廠做難頭卒都啱嘅!

I just had a friend who was driving an AUDI Q7. His car was waiting at the traffic light and a 40 meters long container truck hit him from behind. He walked away from the accident with no injury except tensed up muscle as expected. If he was in a Japanese car, he might not be so lucky.

The Q7 is not an immediate write off after the accident. It will get assessed to see if structural damage has taken place, to see if it is repairable.

Not even kids and midgets want to climb to and sit in the third row of a Q7.
