Haha... the last time I went I was on my way to HK. Although my route through UK from the east coast is a little more expensive, it proves to be good reward for the extra time I spent in Prague.

I went by one of the american chain. Price may be higher but I got my reward points. So I don't think I can really advise you. However, there are tons of resource and most of them have online reservation. If you are really spending a week there than may be choosing a hotel next to your favorite club is reasonable, however since these club are all over the city there is no really one place.
One advice, make sure you join a "SP reviews board" such as captain69.co.uk. There are good resources on clubs from punters who were there before. Plan ahead and know what you will expect, especially you are staying only a few days.

I used to get round the world tickets from Thailand, as it was really cheap... Back in the days of Asian Financial Crisis when Thai Baht was grossly depreciated. Buying HK-BKK round-trip and a round the world ticket from Bangkok was a lot cheaper than buying a round the world ticket from Hong Kong. That was a great excuse for going to Thailand for a while.
