I own a 26 inch MTB and currently using XT crankset gear 3 x 10 speed and would like to seek opinion for changing the bottom bracket of my MTB due to cracking noise when accelerate. I am currently looking to change to ceramic bottom bracket but was told it will not make much difference. I saw on yourtube the spining of the ceramic bottom bracket and it does spin more than normal steel ball barring.
Anyone can give an idea of it and what suggest brand should I seek for. It is for MTB and I know Hope and CK are really expensive, how about those Taiwanese brand like Token and others.

Have you tried removing the cup to clean and grease? How about removing the gear hanger, clean and then grease the area between that and the frame? Also, is everything tight, especially the chain-ring?
I am in a biz other than bicycle, but hope my experience also applies here.
Ceramic material, though harder and slippier than steel, does has the disadvantage of
cracking easily, when subject to impact or shock, not uncommon on bumpy roads.
It seems to me that the bottom bracket does need replacement, but should it be replaced
with same part, or a ceramic bracket, is truly something to be desired.
yes, went several shop in NT to ask and no one seem to able help me except 1 old mechanic seem to understand my point and encourage me to clean and grease first. Ceramic bearings can easy break into powder although they are more smoother than steel bearings.
I will definitely bring into bicycle shop to remove, clean and grease first but saw the technology of ceramic bearing really move further more than normal bearing but was told a lot of disadvantage of cleaning it.

All mechanical moving parts need to be cleaned and greased periodically. It's especially true if you ride you bike on dusty, sandy, and muddy roads all the time. Also, if your bike has been washed or being in the rain a lot, it will have to be greased.
Just like human "parts" need to be lubed to operate smoothly.
Please find an experienced mechanical engineer or a bicycle repair expert for consultation. I think most people does not know what you are talking about. Sorry, I can't help you.

thanks for C-Hing advice. Not sure how much the bike shop will charge to dismantle, clean and lube.
