Sagrantino is, when properly made, one of those world class wines that not many people know about them. Its earthiness sometimes made some call it " Barolo of the South".
I love both the dry and passito version. Arnaldo Caprai is the most famous producer; other good ones are Paolo Bea, Clopetrone, Fongoli and Tabarrini. There are specialist Italian wine shops in HK that carry some of these brands.
The other great Italian wine that is currently off the radar is a Taurasi, made from the Alianigo And Piedirosso grapes. |
