1970's was the era of low mass and high compliance tonearms. (super tracking) Two arms on top pic were higher mass, low compliance which should not have been used..SME 3009S2, second looks like SAEC arm from Japan. Third is lower mass , rear part look like ADC and rest looks like infinity. In the 80s, more and more good moving coil (sweet sounding) available which are higher mass and lower compliance...I had to change to a wooden arm which is high mass/low compliance. It is very hard to have a good turn table system, a lot to learn. Installing a good uni pivot arm is a pain especially if drilling hole and measurements needed, like the Denon DP 6000/DP 80 with such an arm. (pic shown above does not require drilling hole and they are not uni pivot, easy to install) |
