Like to post some old ones that could represent an era, and current one not too expensive, hopefully within reach of our readers...
I think I was the first targeted customer/reviewer in the world to test drive Bruce Moore's prototype Audible Illusions Uranus one with two power transformers hanging outside the chassis, not seal, not boxed. . Sounded better than all the pre-amps I was using. (Had a few at the time, Marantz 7C, Precision Fedility C7A, Yamaha C2A, series 20-C-21, and Quaitessence Group Pre-amp.)
The final product didn't have a separate power supply box. Guess he changed his mind..I told him not too because the power supply box is a selling point, but he didn't listen. Eventually, the Uranus one evolved to Modulus 3 with separate power supply. Very open sounding signature series tube pre-amps.
These are the successors of my Duo Mono pre-amp. Slightly lower noise.

It is not totally true..there are some good quality gears at reasonable prices. We all have different standards of what high/low prices are, anyway.
I think Mr. 7up could pretty much answer all hi fi questions...no questions are dummmm questions, how I see it.
This is OUR forum...yours too.
How u doing? I remember you from the music channel, we chatted a bit.
The first and second full symmetrical / complimentary V-FET power amp in the world. These are/were awesome amps, considered very hi price for Japanese product. I had the Sony for a while. (Yahama B1 was symmetrical, not complimentary, the B2 was.) They were flag-ship products. State of the art in amp design plus dual mono configuration, pioneers of high speed & direct current amplification. The V-FET technology was hopeful as beginning of an new era in Hi Fi. Unfortunately, Japanese designers " taste" of music reproduction is distinguished (or unique ) from some audiophiles.

Something that is affordable ! Unlike crazy European prices. Some even got their own stories (which I know). I think the tube mono amps very likely under $15,000 USD a pair, still current model. I have the dual mono pre-amp. Same circuits, different looks (mine black). The speakers look like JBL...hehe, another story.
