杭州灣跨海大橋是一座橫跨中國杭州灣海域的跨海大橋，它北起浙江省嘉興市     海鹽鄭家埭，南至寧波市慈溪水路灣。它是瀋海高速公路的一部分，全長36公 里，是世界第三長的跨海大橋，比連接巴林與沙烏地阿拉伯的法赫德國王大橋長11公里，成為繼山東省青島市膠州灣跨海大橋及美國的龐恰特雷恩湖橋之後世界第三長的橋樑。在浙江省高速公路規劃中，杭州灣跨海大橋又被定名為「杭州灣寧波通道」，為未來浙江省高速公路網「兩縱兩橫十八連三繞三通道」中的「三通道」之一。

Sunhine Skyway Bridge Issued by USA
Issue Year: 2012

The U.S. Postal Service recognized the 25th anniversary of Florida's Sunshine Skyway Bridge by issuing the $5.15 Sunshine Skyway Bridge Priority Mail stamp today. In the stamp artwork, the bridge rises from Tampa Bay's vivid blue water and is silhouetted against an orange sky. Tiny vehicles on the roadbed reveal the massive scale of this engineering marvel.

"The Sunshine Skyway Bridge links the Gulf Coast communities surrounding St. Petersburg and Bradenton," said U.S. Postal Service Suncoast district acting manager Nancy Rittenhouse. "And, now the bridge will link people around the nation with family members, loved ones, friends and businesses when they use the stamp to send Priority Mail."

Joining Rittenhouse in dedicating the stamp was St. Petersburg city council chair Leslie Curran.

"It is an honor for the City of St. Petersburg to host the stamp dedication ceremony," said Curran.

Unable to attend, former Florida Governor Bob Graham provided the following statement. "The new Sunshine Skyway bridge started with a disaster and concluded with the world's most beautiful bridge. The collision and loss of life which occurred on May 9, 1980, created an opportunity to build a new bridge which memorialized the 35 people who lost their lives that day; engaged state of the art design, engineering and construction and unified the Tampa Bay communities to create what is now the signature of Tampa Bay."

Construction began on the new bridge began two years after the tragedy. The new bridge featured on the stamp is one of the first major concrete-and-steel, cable-stayed bridges in the United States. Completed in 1987, the main bridge and approach spans stretch more than four miles across Tampa Bay and link the Gulf Coast communities surrounding St. Petersburg and Bradenton.

To many people the 42 brilliant yellow cables look like sails and their two supporting pylons like masts rising from the water. Engineers designed the cable-stayed section of the new bridge to soar 190 feet above the water to allow unhindered navigation to and from the busy port of Tampa.

Setting new standards for technical innovation and esthetics, the structural design is considered by many to be a modern masterpiece. Renamed in 2005 after the former governor who envisioned its construction, the Bob Graham/Sunshine Skyway Bridge has been the recipient of dozens of engineering and design awards.

The stamp, designed by Carl T. Hermann of North Las Vegas, NV, showcases a digital illustration created by artist Dan Cosgrove of Chicago, IL. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge Pre-Stamped Priority Mail Envelope is being issued at the $5.15 rate. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge Priority Mail stamp is being issued in self-adhesive sheets of 20 at the $5.15 rate or $103 per sheet.

The Confederation Bridge in Canada links Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick, crossing the Northumberland Strait at a point known as the Abegweit Passage. Opened in 1997, it took three and a half years and a billion dollars to complete. It is 12.9 km long and includes a single lane in each direction flanked by emergency lanes on both sides.
Confederation Bridge creates a visual that impact far exceeds the terms local residents used to refer to it before it received a formal name: the Fixed Link. Since that time it has often been called one of Canada’s Wonders, and with good reason. The structure is awe-inspiring to see, and has been compared to a Loch Ness monster extending past the horizon as it undulates over the water.
The serpentine design was incorporated to minimize the hypnotic effect that can pose a threat to drivers crossing straight bridges. For more facts about the sophisticated engineering of this stunning span, you can read the Design page on the bridge’s website.
The bridge was proposed years before construction began as an improvement to the existing transportation options between the two provinces. Up until that point, a ferry from Nova Scotia provided the only public access to the island. However, many residents were vehemently opposed to the idea of a bridge, fearing that it would threaten their way of life.
While tourism, economic development and real estate stood to benefit from a ‘fixed link,’ the agricultural and fishing community members feared their livelihoods would disappear as development brought environmental damage and rapid increases to the price of land. Others on the island simply relished their remote location and didn’t want to lose it to the encroachment of crowds bringing a more modern lifestyle.
Since its completion, studies by the Bedford Institute of Oceanography have found that the bridge contributes to the breakage of ice floes in the frigid waters of the Sound. Driven by tidal currents and wind, the ice crashes into the bridge’s piers, which crush it. Some of the pieces are pushed deep into the water as by the continued pressure, and upstream the ice is slowed by the barrier the bridge forms.
Confederation Bridge and its long term effects on Prince Edward Island remain somewhat controversial, but most Canadians agree that it is beautiful to behold. The Canada Post even issued a set of stamps with an unusual joining tab commemorating this marvel of engineering. 時代在進步，以前汰黑白片，依家睇彩色，將來會3D加色、香、味刀有添。
