The 801 is a good speaker system. I never considered buying one, just too many choices at the time lol...
Listened to them occasionally since the 80s. Funny looking isolated chambers, quite unique.

The S2, it was at $4,500 USD at the time, was way over priced. There were lots of better choices. The little Spica and Rogers were like $500 USD. Thiel and Charwells floor standing speakers were under 2k USD. Soundlab was expensive @ $2,800USD lol...ESL 63 was like 3K and 57 under 1k..lol...I don't even think the 801 were better than all of those lol...They different, all I can say. The F, S2, S3 and M..they don't sound the same..hehe The B&W Nautilus 801 was probably the best, never had a chance to listen. I think the writer strongly favored the "M", and not objective enough. The "M" is not as good as he thinks it is..haha. I think the "M" was born in 1979. (known for it's muddy bass and Monitor doesn't mean the best) "M" stands for Matrix, or Monitor, who knows...doubt it stands for Master, lol... I don't know much about B&W anyway...
"其實這個801後面的字母"M"是監聽版的縮寫既MASTER" 監聽 = Monitor lol... |
