South Australia was settled by the German in the past. Many wineries are influenced by German culture and lots of local names of places are German. In the district it is also famous also for jam made from local fruit such as strawberry and apricot. SA is more know for its red wine. Another brand that I visited in SA was Brown Brothers.
Buying directly from the cellar are not always the cheapest. You often will see the same wine sold for less in a bottle shop. However, they often have some cheaper wine that you cannot find in the bottle shops and they taste very good anyway. I have paid for 2 bottles of red from Lindeman's at $10 each and they were very good.
If you come to NSW, Hunter Valley is more famous for its white wines and it is made to be tourist friendly as well.
Your photos are very nice! Did you take them yourselves? |
