actally diesel cars are quite nice for driving these days, i rented a Mercedes C250CDI when i went to UK for a road trip last year , spec was pretty amazing, its 2.2 but with 2-stage turbo, 201bhp and a claimed efficiency of 55mpg, start-stop, actually quite quick in response (0-100 in sth like 7seconds) , drives really well, engine noise not an issue, and the fun bit is its turbo turned on at a mere 1500rpm right to 3500 rpm, thats really a good range for most road situations, and even if i drive quickly it still returns sth like 48mpg for a trip of around 650 miles of motorway and cities, still got 1/3 of a tank left , that was my best all round driving experience so far
havent driven a 20d engine in BMW , but the mercedes 250CDI engine is definitely one hell of a class
shame that HK doesnt have much choices apart from the audi Q7 3.0TDI ones.... am sure those diesel engines are way cleaner than many other petrol cars... its a nice thing to have diesel cars for everyday driving |
