There are basically three dimensions beyond recreational diving:
1) Use combination of breathing gases to extend stay and handle nitrogen nicrosis (Nitrox - increase % of oxygen and decrease % of nitrogen) and decompression sickness (sustitution of other inert gases such as helium with nitrogen i.e. trimix diving).
2) dealing with long term and short term oxygen toxicity beyond depth of 140 feet.
3) decompression planning e.g. use travelling gas mix with less than 21 % oxygen, muliti level decompression and other apparatus such as rebreather and stuffs for going for different kind of purposive dives. |
