1976年9月7日嘅晚上, Eric Clapton 與妻子 Pattie 出門參加由 Paul McCartney 與 Linda 夫婦所請,
為紀念 Buddy Holly (對Rock Music有好大啓發嘅大師) 嘅宴會派對, 此曲係 Eric Clapton 描繪當晚
對 Pattie 嘅感覺, 當年嘅老婆 Pattie Boyd 係 George Harrison 嘅前妻, Eric 亦係 George 嘅好友,
正所謂兩老襟見吓面, 好閒唧。
2007年 Pattie Boyd 出自傳一書: "WONDERFUL TONIGHT: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me"
亦難忘要提及此情此景。不過令樂迷雀躍嘅就係1988年, 出席南非曼德拉 Nelson Mandela 70 歲
生日祝壽音樂會上, 被應要任 Dire Straits 嘅客席結他手, 當晚一曲  WONDERFUL TONIGHT 與
Mark Knopfler 合作演出, 成為當今一絕 !
