夜間人像 Boey @ 1881 Heritage

This is one beautiful location. 1881 Heritage ,The former Marine Police Headquarters has recently undergone a six-year, US$130 million transformation and is now
a heritage hotel, outdoor event space and luxury retail destination. The 120-year-old site occupies 12,000 sqm near Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui.

We schedule this fashion shoot with Boey on a Monday night so there won't be so crowded. BOY, was I dead wrong, the place was packed with people checking out this newest attraction plus X'mas decorations were up as well. Any way, since we are there, there is no alternative but to make the best of it. To make matters worst, I had made the mistake of borrowing a very thin light stands from my studio friends in Hong Kong, which get thrown around by the wind with the top heavy umbrella diffuser, so it was very cumbersome to use with all the people in the place.

Lighting is by SB900 on a lightstand with filter supplied by Nikon. Triggering by attached flash on D700. One thing I learned from this shoot is that, the SB900 and D700 combination will detect the color filter used on your flash, hence changing the AWB setting on your camera, defeating the purpose of the filter in night or sunset scenes. One item to remember when using the filter set for warming subjects in front of the flash.

At least one thing we can be sure is the beautiful Model, Lovely Boey from Hong Kong.

Hence following are the end result images, I will let you guys be the judge of how good or bad they are and what is missing................

Don't be so harsh on yourself, 我覺得選址正確, 只係 timing 問題, 冇計, 香港人鐘意一窩蜂地做某一件事.

如果條大紅頸巾係主角, Boey 嘅身高亦顯示選角正確, 否則就影唔到頂樓第二幅. (Model 方面, 唯獨二樓幾個 pose 都單起左腳, 或許係佢習慣成自然, 變成寫真味重過時裝 fashion shoot.)

個人喜歡二樓嘅制作 (特別係尾一同尾三), 用冷調襯托大紅頸巾, 突出啲. 而 Boey 嘅 cool 表情亦好夾, 順便減少藍色眼影嘅突兀.

But you know what I like most? The subject <2012 每周一女 wk-01>.

The Gardens and the lakeview are also very nice, this year is first year that we have not had snow this late in January which is good.

Agree. Chicago is pretty during summer! But again not care about the snow and the wind during winter.

- I never been to 1881, so no comment.

- About the color filter, if you used Nikon supplied color compensation filter, the flash detects the kind of filter and sends this info back to the camera. So, in "flash" or "auto" WB setting, the camera will correct the color accordingly.
You used Incandescent filter? and also other red filter(in last photo of 1st set)?

- In term of color tone only, I like the color of your first set.

- It seems it is portrait shoot more than fashion shoot. And the photos mixes with "cold" looks and smiling face looks.

- I like her cold looks more, including 1,4, 14 & 15, the handling of 17 is also good
