I agree with you, you are right about the Portuguese version is good, and it was and still is the best after the Brazilian song writer and composer Antonio Carlos Jobim passed away. Jobim wrote both the English and Portuguese lyrics, both set speak of The Promise of Life, although in a different way.
Thank you for your support, most appreciated!
If you prefer Elis Regina, she is the master of this song, and here it is. Please enjoy!
I don't understand, what do you mean by 'starts at 1:00'?
Listen to the Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto video... a female vocal starts at the one minute mark....looks like another version of the song spliced in there.
Joao Gilberto's then wife was Astrud Gilberto, she is also a jazz singer. Astrud and João divorced in the mid-1960s and she began a relationship with her musical partner, Stan Getz.
I wouldn't put Basia as a jazz singer, she is more a popular song singer than jazz. I have a coup ...
Thanks for the prompt, really appreciated.
Hey, would you make an introduction to Basia Trzetrzelewska, I would love to enjoy your selection, and many others too would go for you prime collection.
Antonio Carlos Jobim a great song composer but like Burt Bacharach not a good singer
hehe, needed more than him to have anything sharp at both ends. Well, you are at high end to be considered as one of his casual admirers. He did try his best to have this in English, a version defers, and a version that makes the lyric sounds a bit more positive.
Would you make an introduction to Burt Bacharach too? Would be interesting!
Yes I have 'Time and Tide' and her 'London Warsaw New York'
Great, would you introduce these two? Would be interesting, right?
Hey, I posted an acknowledgement on my last video thread, did you see it? In case you have a different idea, please let me know, and I will make change before the time is up.
