ching, my 2 cents suggestion:

If you could ignore your feeling about the bg (e.g. anger, jealousy because she slept with other men) and you don't mind losing some money and you don't have a wife or good girlfriend, you may go ahead to try and develop the relationship with her.

For the money, you must prepare how much you could afford to lose.  For example, if you prepare to lose $50K, you have to cut the relationship after you lost $50K.  But the bg who really loves you will not want your money.
