You remind me. When I just listened it again, feeling good.

Classical has a problem, it needs me to concentrate first, otherwise cannot enjoy it at all!

Here you can find some background information of Water Music.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Music_(Handel)
Most of the time I simply listen to it and relax, without trying to learn the piece, which makes it possible for me to listen while doing some mind-boggling IT work.

咁一般我地 home user 應該點做呀?

Here is some suggestions for home users to minimise risk of being hacked.

1) Turn on the Windows Firewall and set NO EXCEPTIONs

2) Get and install Microsoft  Defender (free)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows ... fender/default.mspx

3) Turn off your internet connection when not needed.
(I often physically remove the phone line which also has the added benefit of protection from lightling)

4) If you are using FIXED IP (Address) consider install a firewall device

5) Check you routers (i.e. for sharing internet access)  and other devices and make sure the password is set and is NOT the default password.

When using wireless connection make sure you know how to disable the device.

(When installing a new PC makes sure  Windows is fully patched BEFORE connecting to the internet.)

Also worth noting that Anti-virus only protects from KNOWN computer virus/malware.

In addition to installing anti-virus and updating virus signatures one should

1)  Use a least privillege user account .
i.e. avoid from using a user with Administrator rights during normal day to day use.
Only login using adminstrator account when you need to install programs.

2) Avoid downloading and install all those free and fun but totally unecessary programs/apps.

Zoombie computer network is big business and is available  for hire.
Most computer network attacks are automated (e.g. Worms)

So never assume you PC is not worth to be hacked.

老實講 .. ...

Power off is the ultimate (and my preferred) way of disabling a device. (and save electricity!)

1) Turn on the Windows Firewall and set NO EXCEPTIONs --- A lot of "hole" must be opened for various communication programs to go through...

2) Get and install Microsoft  Defender (free)   ---  I hate Microsoft product and as little MS product as possible...
http://www.microsoft.com/windows ... fender/default.mspx

3) Turn off your internet connection when not needed.  ---- That mean I had to drill into the bottom of my desk everyday whenever I need the Internet connection !!!
(I often physically remove the phone line which also has the added benefit of protection from lightling)

4) If you are using FIXED IP (Address) consider install a firewall device --- That OK for me

5) Check you routers (i.e. for sharing internet access)  and other devices and make sure the password is set and is NOT the default password. --- That also done, but I never change my password & one password for all devices... there are too MANY password have to remember!

When using wireless connection make sure you know how to disable the device.   ---- I never disable the device, never power off too.... Yes I know it is stupid

(When installing a new PC makes sure  Windows is fully patched BEFORE connecting to the internet.) --- I hate MS automatically install the patch and REBOOT my PC, so I turn off this function

Also worth noting that Anti-virus only protects from KNOWN computer virus/malware.  --- I knew...Anti-virus is not that useful but slow down my PC

In addition to installing anti-virus and updating virus signatures one should

1)  Use a least privillege user account .                  ---- I can't do that otherwise some OLD program cannot execute in Vista/Win7
i.e. avoid from using a user with Administrator rights during normal day to day use.
Only login using adminstrator account when you need to install programs.

2) Avoid downloading and install all those free and fun but totally unecessary programs/apps. ---- Many program looks like useful, until I download them, try run, then I knew useful or not...

Zoombie computer network is big business and is available  for hire. ----- Funny 喪屍出租!!!
Most computer network attacks are automated (e.g. Worms)

I don't have any objection on your good suggestions, I just voiced out, as a ordinary user (yes, I hate to be a careful expert user, too many rules, no fun), it is not easy to follow your guild-lines

Hi, Dswghk, not to be AH, but,
1. " a lot of holes need " --- you have more holes than you need if you don't close them by the firewall ..
2. Defender --- I hate that 2.
3. drill into the bottom of my desk everyday --- I used to crawl under the secretaries' desks in those old days
5. at least you don't write it on a piece of paper and stick it to your mon.
6.  turning off the router is not such a bad thing -- it needs reboot once in a while anyway.
7.  I hate it too. Not only MS, but Ubuntu as well.
8. AV -- and eats up a lot of your RAM too.
9. Old programs don't run --- come on, you have enough knowledge to move the required DLL's to make them run.
10. Even if they are clean, they create a lot of "holes" in the registry to slow your computer down. ( that's why so many
Windoz users re-install their OS once in a while.
11. That's the reason why so many free Windows installers around -- they are really not free.
