I have a different view on this subject. I was once at a airport custom. I will not name that country, but it is a well perceived "democratic" one on the older continent. I overheard a talk between a high up custom official and a lady whom got denied entry. Perhaps that official puts it the best, "Lady, why are you so mad? The custom is like the door to your house. You can deny anyone that you don't like from going into your house by not opening the door. So can we. You want an excuse? Why? We don't need to give you one. Do you give an excuse to a stranger that you will not allow to entering your house? Get it straight. A simple we don't know you is as good as any reason to deny you. And now I don't like you, and it is a even better reason. Of you go. That way."
Of course, I don't understand their language, a friend was there to translated for me. But that makes me ponder, and you know what? I have to agree with that official completely. You are trying to enter other ppl's house and they don't have to welcome you, for whatever reason there is. As whether it is the political correct thing to do or not, we can have our own opinions. But ultimately, it is not our house. |
