On Jan 31, 1981, the Some Bizzare Album, the first album issued by Some Bizzare Records, emerged as a bold compilation showcasing twelve unsigned synth-pop and new wave acts. Curated by the enterprising Stevo Pearce, the album introduced listeners to bands that would later become pillars of the alternative music scene, including Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, The The, and Blancmange. Depeche Mode released their debut single, "Photographic", in this compilation album.
The Some Bizzare Album was reissued in 2008 with additional tracks, including The Normal's "Warm Leatherette," Fad Gadget's "Back to Nature," and The Residents' "The Act of Being Polite." This compilation not only captured a moment in time but also served as a launchpad for several artists who would leave a lasting impact on the music world.
