32 years ago today (January 25, 1993), Belly released their debut studio album “Star” featuring singles “Gepetto" “Feed the Tree" “Full Moon, Empty Heart" and “Slow Dog" with “Feed the Tree" becoming a number one hit on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
In 1994, Star was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album, while Belly were nominated for Best New Artist.
“Gepetto" was originally intended to be a Breeders' song (Tanya was in Kim Deal's the Breeders at that time). Somehow they did not work out, and Tanya formed Belly. “Gepetto" became part of Belly's repertoire.
