Roxy Music is not a band, it is a vehicle to create art masterpieces. The art graduate Bryan Ferry formed his band with Eno, McKay, Manzanera and Thompson after (1) his unsuccessful audition for King Crimson (2) fired from teaching ceramics at a girls' school. Interestingly enough, this debut album is produced by an ex-King Crimson member. Bryan's artistic ability, Eno's alien soundscapes, McKay's woodwind instruments, Manzanera's versatile guitar playing and Thomspson's druming chops, set the standards for the genre of art rock, glam rock, punk and the New Romantics.
The album cover art features Kari-Ann Moller photographed by Karl Stoecker. Moller later on would marry Mick Jagger's brother, Chris. Coincidentally, Jerry Hall, Bryan Ferry's girlfriend while working on the album Siren, later on married Mick Jagger.
