All good wines made by good, if not great winemakers.
Girardin is a very competent white Burgundy producer, and I am sure your Mersult was buttery and full of the Girardin signature silkiness. Consider decanting a relatively young Burg into a cylindrical decanter ( where it can sit into an ice bucket) next time to blow off the sulphur and CO2, soften the acidity and remove the tartness. Besides, white wine in a decanter is quite pretty to look at.
Giacosa is widely regarded as one of the best Piedmontese winemaker around. Your Nebbiolo is one of the entry level reds (Babera aside). Try to get your hands on one of the red label Riservas, be it one the several Barbaresci or the single Barrolo Falleto he still makes. The Arneis is a native Piedmontesse grape with very refreshing qualities, and it would go well with steamed seafood dishes. It should cost around HK$200 or more.
Hudelot Noellet is at present one of the few producers of Premier and Grand Cru red Burgs that still deliver good quality at reasonable prices. 2006 is a fair vintage and in good hands the wines are peaking now. Your NSG should cost around 600-800. His RSV is one of the best around. |
