Welcome back to Svensson's post in HIFI thread. I have not been here for a very long time and I felt that it was time to make a COMEBACK.

Now in today's post I am going to talk about the brand called Entreq. It is a Swedish brand that only has to do with music! One of their accessories that became famous in western socities is the Vibb eater. Vibb is a swedish word that means "wibe". The function of Vibb eater is to control to sound that comes from Hi Fi so the vibrations doesn't occurs as a issue to bad sound outcome.

What do you guys think about this invention? Does it really matter with the vibe eater on the HiFi or not?

WB! Svensson, have not seen you for sometime...
This is an unique product.  I wouldn't say it is a brand new invention.  The concept has been around for a long time.  It helps to absorb the excessive energy from speaker enclosures.  The vibb eater might be a good damper that alters the resonance frequency possibly to beyond audible range.  Additional information from web:

1. Through its weight it gives further stability to the speaker cabinet itself.

2. The vibrations and fields that are generated in the speaker box are most intense at the top of the speaker where the energy cannot go any further.
When placing a Vibb eater’ on top of the speaker you are in essence extending the length of the speaker box to a critical point outside of the cabinet.
The key is that that energy is no longer a part of the speaker itself. The Vibbeaters then simply absorb the energy and transforms it in to heat.

3. The magnetic characteristics that make-up the ‘Vibb eaters’ granular mixture can have a very positive impact on the fields generated in and around the loudspeaker itself.

Hi, Svensson,  nice to know you.

This Vibb eater sounds like a very interesting product. But as an engineer, I am a bit skeptical to its usefulness. I wiould like to write something on my theoretical  analysis, but it might take some time.. The next 2 weeks are probably my busiest time of the year -- 2 trade shows which I must attend  in a row . But I'll do it as soon as the shows are over, I promise.

I have a feeling that this eater thing offers similar effects as the old sand-fill speaker cabinet, which was heavy..
Cons probably is the cost and weight.  Swedish made pouch! ...

My guess is its effectiveness is not significantly more than regular sandbags. The magnetic stuff is more or less gimicky.

The sand-fill cabinet is not just a sand bag and was carefully designed, very pleasant sounding.  I was lucky enough to listen to it when I was a young man.  It has not been in the market since 50s or 60s & that made Wharfdale famous.
The damper works better as a part of the speaker system, rather than an external device, just my 2 cents..
Wonder what is inside the pouch...sand?....

Thanks for welcoming me back! It is my pleasure to be in contact with you again!

Wow, you know very much about this product already. To be honest, I don't have much knowledge about HiFi and music stuffs. I just saw this product at my uncle's house and he put these Vibb eaters on the HiFi when turning them on. I then asked him, what are those and why are they heavy? He answered me that it has to do with the sound that comes out form the HiFi and the vibration. Well, as long as I understood the basics of the use.. haha.

I will definitely see how much they cost in Sweden. I will then see what the prices are in Euros or HKD.
