the Original Beyond is one of the most underrated music bands that has ever existed on the planet. The saddest part is, it's a band that does get its props from nobody: not many respected it due to the shallowness in HK; not many cared it due to the innate prejudice from the West; not many embraced it due to culture difference at the Southeast Asia region; ironically, the most success the band actually found was in Mainland, even if majority of the population could not communicate in Cantonese.
Such promised, talented, inspirational band. Unfortunately, established in a wrong spot, its vision & message are too noble to be understood by too many fools that are vain, tainted, cynical. its fate has to be sealed in Japan, a country that could only mimic but no creation and bear the innate hatred towards China or anything that affiliated the Chinese-region. Beyond is a quintessential case which exemplifies the term 曲高和寡, while its expectancy lasted tragically yet spectacularly short, such career and essentially, life track elevates its status to the next level. The legacy of the original Beyond will be memorized, cherished by those who truly decoded, tasted, survived the harshest part offered by life. |
