I can never understand why people would pay so much for Japanese whiskies. They are of limited quantity because the distillers intentionally limit the production; they can make more if they want. Just a marketing ploy.
Wines are different: the production of Romanee Conti or Oetrus is truly limited because the particular vineyards can only support the growth of a limited number of vines. Also depending on the climate and vintage, the amount of grapes harvested are very variable year by year.
But for distillates, there is no shortage of malt and water. So this "limited" notion is nothing but a marketing ploy. |
