I am sure these are very well-made whiskys, and highly regarded by some Whisky drinkers, just as some vote one of the best Chinese restaurants is the Flower Drum in Melbourne, Australia, or the Hakkasan in London. Similarly, some hail the virtues of Oregon Pinot Noir, or the Ootago (New Zealanf) Pinots. But really, unless you drink great Burgundies all the time, or you are very bored with eating in all the good Chinese restaurants in HK, would you rather settle with an American/Kiwi Pinot, or or eat in those offshore CHINESE joints and find them BETTER?
I have nothing against Japanese whiskies, but as I don't drink whiskies regularly, I am very happy with my Highland/Speyside malts, instead of sipping these expensive JAPANESE "whiskies". Similarly, I have a much higher preference for great Chambertins, to an Oregon Pinot Noir, and for that matter, Fok Lam Moon in Wanchai, than some Flowerdrum/Hakkasan in Melbourne/London respectively. Believe me, I have eaten in all of these foreign Chinese restaurants, and found them very good. But if they have outlets in HK, my first choices would still be to go to authentic local Chinese restaurant, rather than go to these outposts.

One common features of all these drinks and restaurants is that they are all expensive and priced similary. |
