Is this consider a lot of money for a Software Engineer in Hong Kong? If so this is sad. $45000 HKD is about $6000 USD a month. For the same type of job in US, this is very low... If you just got out of college with a software engineer degree, you will easily get this kind of money. With a few years of experience, on average you usually get $9000 USD a month, that's almost 70000 HKD. The living standard between US and HK is about the same. Houses are actually more expensive in HK. Food is a bit more expensive in US. A bowl of wonton noodle soup cost about 7 USD, or $50 HKD in US. I think you can find wonton noodle soup in HK for around $35 HKD in HK.
But tax in US is heavy. If you are single, not married, and you make $9000 a month, usually you pay $3000 for tax, and you only get $6000. |
