It is piezo/ceramic type of tweeter...Back then when hi end gears were more reasonably priced.  Dalhquist DQ 10 was quite an innovation.  (Not as much as Quad, that was a break through.)  Both were under 1,000 USD a pair, new..   A lot of these hi end speakers now, compare the scale of improvements, not even close to them and they wanted tons of $$

Not necessary true.  There are still some lower price, honest manufacture who produce quality products at reasonable prices, just gotta look carefully.
