There are plenty of DAC with Volume control in the market, but some don't have headphone amps.  Just make sure the out-put is high enough to drive the amp/active speakers.  I have seen quite a few..  With my limited knowledge, I believe USB DAC with volume control is the best way to go. (Another nice option is with 100 Base T / Gigabyte network support.)  I pad, & hi fi 机顶盒 not MCOT.  This is an example:

I only play LPs' at home.  Ever since I started posting here..I began to check out hi fi gears again.  Have had enough auditions to know what is going on.  35 plus years experience and 5 years of electronics background enable me to pick it up rather fast...  DAC sounds to me, IMHO..at this time is not yet acceptable compare to LPs', (I know most of us would think otherwise, very understandable) but it is getting close with those very high quality high price DAC's.  Only certain audiophiles still think LPs are better.  I am one of them although I am not an audiophile..

What I said was a quote...  If you notice that I said this is an example...Very very hard to give up my 1,500 plus LPs'.

**Remember I mentioned that I only got two power amps, two pre-amps and few other gears left when I retired from Hi Fi ?  Ever since I started post here last August..I kinda want to expand my system again...very possible tri-amp again, since I still have the ribbon super tweeter collecting dust in the storage..all I need is a good electronic cross-over..  cuz my Audio Pro sub got a build-in Class A/B amp.
