Last year I opened a 1990 DRC Marc de Bourgogne. It was given to me as a present. Personally I don't think it was worth the market price tag of HK$5-7k a bottle. I would rather much drink a Martell Cordon Bleu (from the good old days; the newer ones aren't just the same) or a Hennessy Paradis rare or for that matter a Louis XIII. To me, those taste much finer, with more elegance and complexity. You have to remember, these Marcs and Fines are made from leftovers of wine making. For those branded Cognacs, they purposely made the wine first and distillate the wine to make the brandy.
FYI, a Fine de Bourgogne costs more than a Marc de Bourgogne of the same vintage. |
