Black Velvet is very good with Oysters. Brothers should try.
James Bond (007) likes his Martini shaken, not stirred. I tend to think that's wrong, as you dissolve more ice that way and dilutes the taste. A twist of lemon is good to rub around the cocktail glass to impact aroma, but shouldn' t be in the glass as it becomes a nuisance when you finish the drink, you have to spit it out. An olive is OK as it is nice to nibble on something whilst drinking. When you add a pickled onion, the drink is called a Gibson.
I suggest no brothers should drink any cocktails before drinking wines, esp. those sweet ones. They will destroy your palate for fine wines. If you must have an aperitif, a Fino sherry or a Blanc de Blanc fits the bill well. Cocktails are really for afterwork in a bar ( non sweet ones) to reflect the day and sweet ones for lying around the poolside. |
