Narrow escape

First time in Hanoi on the first night and so I went out with 2 guys I meet on the train from Guangzhou to check out some KTVs in Hanoi. First we went to Fortuna hotel which has a nightclub in the basement and asked about their prices. Smallest room they have costs 1.4 million dong (approx. US$67) beer $6 and girls singing with you $30. Girls will go up to room in the hotel only and if you don't have a room, a 2 hr room costs $60 and girl is also around $60 or so plus tips.

We then went to Hanoi hotel which also costs roundabout the same as Fortuna but the girls we saw at the entrance were older and doesn't look to tempting. We decided to go to a KTV on Thai Ha Road called 123 Karaoke. Upon entering we were told that small room $10/night, girls sitting with you $10/night and Heniken $2. We proceeded to the room and picked our girls from the 6 they showed us and they were all smiles and quite nice to us although they don't speak any English or Chinese. We asked if they would go out after and only 1 out of the 3 would for $100 shorttime (I think perhaps it can be lowered if we negotiate but we didn't). Anyway, we order our beer which were room temperature and need ice in them and then everything went downhill from that point. First, in additional to the beer for us and the girls, they brought glasses of juice for the girls and alarm bells began to ring in my head. Second, the girls began to open bags of snacks which were sitting on the table so i stopped them after a few. At that point I talked to my friends and we decided that perhaps it is better if we leave to avoid further damage. So we went downstairs and asked for the bill and sure enough it wasn't what we expected. The final bill was for 1.24 million dongs ($60) and it turns out room for for $10 per hour and the rest were for the juices and the snacks etc etc. So for the entire 1.2 hours that we were there we paid $60 + $35 (3 girls + waiter)

You went a wrong place!that is karaoke or call 'beer om',not a night club.
是專做本地越南人而設,通常坐在房內飲啤酒,唱唱歌,溝吓囡囡,更有部份人客在房內開餐食飯(叫外賣),通常一坐就2~3個鈡起碼,飲啤酒是以一箱箱計(每箱24支),不設收房租費,囡囡靠客人打賞小費維生,但有權可同時坐幾張枱,店家靠賣啤酒和小食,水菓為生;若客人唱karaoke,每房加收U.S$15,不要小看數目細,囡囡是同客人浪費啤酒(倒得滿地都是),一次花費閒閒地U.S$150.囡囡最多俾你楂楂波矣,要搜身就唔得啦.

That is one reason I don't go to Vietnam KTV. big one will cost you average $100 per night just drink and sing. Girls tips is extra. If you lucky, girl may go out with you with the price you never want to pay. Small Ktv, you never know the hidden charge. you may think you only drink 6 beers but turn out they said 12. where the extra beers went? I did see 12 empty bottles and the floor all wet.

Yea man, just go to beer-om. There you can drink and snack for cheap and pick up girls to go out.
