CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2013) - Ogres, dragons and jesters -- Oh my! Master Model Builders and construction crews work together as the nation's first LEGOLAND® Hotel at LEGOLAND® California Resort gets closer to opening on April 5, 2013.
Model Builders installed some iconic LEGO® models including a giant ogre, playful jester, royal princess and a baby dragon in the interactive Castle Play area based on the popular LEGO Kingdom, Pirate and Adventure lines. Children will be able to climb aboard a pirate ship docked next to the castle as they enjoy nightly entertainment.
Nearby, an entire skyline was recreated using more than 200,000 LEGO bricks. Model Builders placed the nine buildings into place for guests to enjoy when they quench their thirst at the Skyline Café. The cityscape showcases 35 fun scenes including a woman fighting a turkey that came out of her oven, a man swimming in his apartment being chased by a shark a woman holding a banana to try and entice a monkey off her balcony.
Outside, restless lifeguards from LEGOLAND® Water Park joined up with the Hotel's construction crew to begin filling 60,000 gallons of water into the gradual incline 5-foot-deep swimming pool. Surrounded by LEGO trees and lounge chairs, the pool area will be a place for guests to cool off after a day at the Park.
