Porsche AG is celebrating the world premiere of the new Cayman at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The third generation of the Cayman has been completely new developed. It is lower and longer, lighter and faster, more efficient and more powerful than ever. A longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels enhance the driving performance of the mid-engine sports car to a level without equal in its competitive class. The new two-seater is – after the 911 Carrera and Boxster – the third sports car model line from Porsche to feature innovative lightweight body design. The new Cayman is up to 30 kg lighter, depending on the specific model and equipment, and it consumes up to 15 per cent less fuel per 100 km than the previous model – despite higher engine and driving performance.
The new generation of the two-seat mid-engine sports car is debuting in two classic Porsche versions: the Cayman and the Cayman S. The base model is powered by a 2.7-liter flat six-cylinder engine with 275 hp (202 kW). It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, depending on the equipment, and reaches a top speed of 266 km/h. Its NEDC fuel consumption lies between 7.7 l/100 km and 8.2 l/100 km, depending on the selected transmission.
The 3.4-liter engine of the Cayman S produces 325 hp (239 kW); the best possible acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h is 4.7 seconds with appropriate features. The Cayman S can reach a top speed of 283 km/h, and its NEDC fuel consumption value lies between 8.0 l/100 km and 8.8 l/100 km, depending on the selected transmission.
Inside the cabin, the Cayman has been updated to offer the driver a sporty comfort. The entire interior has been designed around the driver. The steering wheel and the gear level and being placed a short distance from each other, and all of the buttons and functions of the on-board computer are intuitively accessible.
Just like with its soft-top sibling, the Cayman comes with a choice of two highly efficient flat-six-cylinder engines mounted just in front of the rear axle. The standard Cayman comes with a 2.7-liter version that delivers a total of 275 horsepower and the S version gets a 3.4-liter with an output of 325 ponies. Both engines come standard with a manual six-speed gearbox and have an optional seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available.
Both versions of the Cayman can be updated with a Sport Chrono package that includes dynamic gearbox mounts, a performance display, a digital and analogue stopwatch and the Sport Plus button. This package will help your Cayman deliver better 0 to 60 mph times. For example, the standard Cayman will do the sprint in 5.4 seconds and the Cayman S with PDK in 4.7 seconds, but when equipped with the Sport Chrono, the Cayman S hits 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The standard Cayman will hit a top speed of 165 mph and the Cayman S can go up 175 mph.
This is a bright yellow color i think, not really the sharp type yet, or in color profession term, more "Chrome" . if she can add in a little bit more pearl effect, would be nicer :) personal opinion :-p
