The three-wheel Onyx Scooter draws its design inspiration from the Onyx supercar, sporting aggressive sharp and angular lines and a matte black / copper color combination. Though a scooter by default (so called “urban mode”), it can be transformed into a sportbike (“Sport mode”) by adding a center ClipBox, which changes the riding position and also serves as an extra storage compartment.
Like the supercar, the Onyx Scooter employs a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 400cc (0.4-liters) internal combustion engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 45 kW (60-hp) and 58 Nm (43 lb-ft) of torque. Driving the large 200/50 R17 rear wheel, the system allows for a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) and delivers 2.0 lt/100 km in fuel consumption.
The Onyx Scooter has a riding range of 30 km (18.6 miles) at speeds of 50 km/h (31 mph) in strictly EV mode and up to 500 km (310 miles) in combined gas / electric.
The Onyx Scooter Concept will likely not be produced, although it may preview an upcoming three-wheeler from Peugeot.
In addition to the Onyx concept car equipped with a V8 hybrid rear center position, Peugeot unveiled a concept hybrid three-wheeled scooter the Onyx.
This hybrid scooter uses a 400 cm3 engine and an electric motor to drive the rear wheel 200 mm wide. The advertised power of this concept is 61 hp and a top speed of 150 km / h.
It also has a system of regenerative braking is returned in lithium-ion batteries. Consumption is estimated at 2 L/100 km which would allow a maximum range of 500 km.
Another feature of this concept Onyx, it has two steering positions: sporting and urban. Peugeot has not forgotten the practical aspects with a removable boot (ClipBox) in the central part which can take two helmets.
