The 2013 ILX sedan has developed a bit of a chip on its shoulder ... Acura recently showed its entry-level four-door in two powerful tunes for its first trip to the SEMA Show in more than half a decade. Both tunes juice and streamline the ILX, one for endurance racing and one for the street.
The ILX Endurance Racer was prepared by Team Honda Research-West to meet the U.S. Touring Car specifications of the National Auto Sport Association (that's a different NASA than the one we're used to). The THR-W team focused mostly on cutting weight while also upgrading the car's safety, performance and aerodynamics.
The Endurance Racer is upgraded with an AEM cold air intake, an HPD-lightened flywheel and racing clutch package, a custom-built racing exhaust, H&R suspension, and Enkei RPF1 wheels dressed in BFGoodrich R1 race tires, among other parts. It also includes a full roll cage, race seat, competition steering wheel, LED lighting system and rear spoiler.
The ILX will make its racing debut at next month's 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race.
Moving off the race circuit and onto the street, the 2013 ILX "Street Build" is designed to navigate neighborhood and highway with a bit more performance and flair.
The tune was performed by Evasive Motorsports. With the help of an ECU tune, a CT Engineering supercharger kit lets 250 horses out of their 2.4-liter four-cylinder stable. A prototype exhaust from Greddy gives the car the appropriate grumble. The aero-upgraded body sits on top of 19-inch Volk G25 wheels suspended by Tein Street Advance coilovers and covered in Pirelli P Zero tires.

The first for the new Acura ILX will use the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that accelerates the power 150HP at 6500 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque at 4.300 rpm. The engine will be mated with a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission and fuel required when in town or highway for 24/32 mpg. Whereas for the latter, 2013 Acura ILX supported by a 2.4-liter engine that can accelerate the power 201HP at 7,000 rpm and 170 lb-ft of torque at 4.300 rpm, the engine will be mated with a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission, and will provide fuel emissions as highways or city streets for 20/29 mpg.
2013 Acura ILX also comes with Hybird version; this is the first-time hybrid version. Acura ILX hybird, will be powered by an inline 1.5-liter engine combined with an Integrated Motor Assist electric motor that can output an output of 111HP at 5,500 rpm and 127 lb-ft of torque. Between 1.000 to 3.000 rpm. At Acura ILX Hybrid equipped with continuously variable transmission (CVT), the new ILX Hybrid will provide street highway fuel emissions by 35/38 mpg. At the time of braking, Acura ILX hybird will temporarily disable the petrol engine for the electric motor acts as a generator to recharge batteries that are still there space to be filled.
2013 Acura ILX Hybrid Major options are grouped into Premium and Technology packages and include leather upholstery, 17" alloy wheels, navigation system, premium audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and high intensity discharge headlamps. Compared to the Civic the ILX uses Acura's "Amplitude Reactive" dampers and a larger more rigid steering shaft for improved handling and ride quality characteristics.
The EPA fuel economy rating of the hybrid version is 39 mpg-US (6.0 L/100 km; 47 mpg-imp) for city and 38 mpg-US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg-imp) on highway driving. 2013 Acura ILX Endurance Racer
