This works on desktop PC only, not an option if you have a laptop.  With the price of SSD coming down so quickly, I would opt for one with about 240 to 256 GB capacity.  You can load the OS and all of your applications on it, and put your data on a high capacity HDD, i.e. 2TB or higher.  And don't forget to keep the swap drive on the SSD to take advantage of the speed.

This also works on notebook having two bays.
e.g. Acer Timeline notebooks have the options of SSD + HDD or some of the 17" display notebooks.

Ah, my bad.  I forgot about those desktop replacement anchors.

不過依家買隻64GB SSD都係五舊左右, 夠晒裝win 7 + 常用program
大食d買隻128GB甚至256GB都係$800-1200, 傳統hdd留番黎bt backup好d
