There is nothing wrong with making your own wine, bread, pasta etc. at home.
However, there are a few, what I call irregularities, with the "wine" made using the method mentioned here
First, they were using table grapes. Now anyone who knows anything about wine would know the difference between wine grapes and table grapes: the berries usually are much smaller and hence there is a much higher skin to juice ratio (the skin gives you tannin, colour, flavour, body, structure and aging ability) . Only very few table grapes are used to make wines e.g. Muscat.
Therefore they also added sugar to help ferment the wine to give it a higher alcohol content, which can render a sense of sweetness and mask the shortcomings of the lack of complexity and structure.
I wouldn't touch this "wine" with a barge pole. |
