Rayas is a wine of both peasantry and nobility. It was made by an eccentric guy whose cellar was dirty and chaotic. He passed away in 1997; this guy was strange and never travelled outside Rhone. It is now succeeded by his nephew. The wines made under his era were phenomenal, but his nephew is slowly catching on.
The wine tastes like liquid raspberries, with a caressing feel to your tongue and the finish. Never strong nor heavy, and without any new oak in its upbringing, it is ideal with ANY cuisine, even seafood, except desert. The finish lasts forever, and that unique bouquet of raspberry and flowers linger in your nose and palate. It is one of those wines that is good enough just to smell it, and putting in in the mouth makes you cry. Even in the not so good vintages, it still gives you that raspberry kick.
A metaphor for this wine is like a beautiful country farm girl in rural China where she worked under the sun all day, and yet she retained the fair complexion and firm slender body, but naive and innocent; so fresh, so attractive, so uncomplicated, so virginal, so seductive, so undemanding, so receptive, you want swallow her whole. She begs for discovery and be devoured.
NOW this is Rayas, if you get what I mean.

這個酒的介紹從文字影響到我心中的味蕾.

有機會真的會從這角度去找出固中真蒂. 個人很喜愛了解釀酒背後的故事啊!
