"Meat Is Murder" is the second studio album by English rock band the Smiths, released on on this day in 1985 (11 February 1985) by Rough Trade Records.
In 2003, Meat Is Murder was ranked number 295 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and 296 in a 2012 revised list. The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
The cover art features a 1967 photograph of 20-year-old Marine Corporal Michael Wynn in the Vietnam War.
