出生在愛爾蘭海的曼島，Gibb兄弟從小便受音樂的薰陶，父親Hugh是樂團的團長，
母親Barbara則是位歌手。9歲那時Barry已經開始歌唱並彈奏父親送給他的吉他，
幫他伴奏的是兩個6歲的雙胞胎兄弟Robin與Maurice。Robin與Barry那獨一無二的嗓音成為日後樂團的著名標籤，
Maurice則是在吉他、貝斯及鍵盤等樂器上鑽研。在十幾歲時，他們隨著父母搬至澳洲，
以Rattlesnakes為團名在布里斯本的賽馬場表演。Bee Gees 的團名取自Barry Gibb 的起首字母，
1958全家移民澳洲，首支單曲“Three Kisses Of Love” (1963)稍獲成功。
到1966年他們已成為澳洲頂尖的合唱團。1966年的Spicks & Specks為他們在澳洲得到首張冠軍單曲，
1967年三人以Bee Gees為團名正式重返英倫出道。1967年澳洲經紀人Robert Stigwood 帶著他們回到英國發展。
此時 Colin Petersen 加入擔任鼓手，Vince Melouney 亦加入擔任吉他手。
Bee Gees 到英國後，“Spicks And Specks”在澳洲奪下排行榜冠軍。
旋即並以“New York Mining Disaster, 1941”在英美創下佳績，繼“To Love Somebody”和“Holiday”成為暢銷曲，
“ Massachusetts”也登上英國金榜榜首。“I've Got To Get A Message To you”更證明他們兄弟詞曲創作的才華。
1969年，Melouney 自組小型樂團，Robin Gibb 亦獨自單飛，至 1970 年後期又重組。
1971年單曲“Lonely Days”及“ How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”在美國創下200萬張的成績，但隨後歌唱事業陷入低潮。
直到 70 年代中期的 Disco 熱潮，方再創他們的事業高峰，並使他們成為超級巨星。
從自憐故事性的歌曲，轉型為輕柔靈魂樂及 Disco 舞曲，由 Robin 的高音搭配假音合聲，
完美的合音技巧形成 Bee Gees 獨一無二的特色。1975年，由 Arif Mardin 製作的專輯“Main Course”獲得白金唱片肯定。
單曲“Jive Talking”更是轟動一時。之後自己製作的專輯“Children Of The World”，
包含“You Should Be Dancing”和“Love So Right”兩支熱門單曲。“Saturday Night Fever” 電影原聲帶創造了三首冠軍曲。
排行榜冠軍專輯“Spirits Having Flow”更創造六支冠軍曲的非凡成就。
