Nothing special, just wanna post all of my favourite video games since 80's. To me, 80's to 90's was the golden age. Hope all of the C-hings would not mind I post something stupid like this.
6th February 1991, we had SF2. To all of the fighting fans, this was the turning point! Because of SF2, we had SF2 Champion Edition in 1992, SF2 Hyper Fighting in the fall of 1992, SF2 The New Challengers in 1993 and finally, SF2 the Grandmaster Challenge in 1994
In 1992, Capcom introduced us a revised version of the original SF2, Champion Edition. The most significant thing was, players were allowed to use the same character. Like Guile to Guile, or Ken to Ken, and the bosses, Bison, Vega, Sagat and Barlog were playable characters . Another change was, finally the bugs in the original SF2 was removed. no more freeze, double freeze and so on. Also, the ability of the characters were more balanced then before. However, few characters were still had an upper hand
Same year, the fall of 1992, Capcom introduced us another revised version of which, Hyper Fighting. Generally the setting was very similar as the Champion Edition. The speed of the characters were faster. Few characters had new moves, like Chun Li had fire ball, Ryu and Ken had flying hurricane kick and so on. Although some of the characters were still very poweful, still, I like this version most!
As a matter of fact, I do not want to spend too much time to talk about SF2 The New Challengers it is because to me, that game is such a crap. Except of the so called improved graphics, four new characters, Q - sound chips, and the network play that allows four person plays at the same time, it was nothing special. Worst is, compare with the speed of Hyper Fighting, this one is ultimately slow
In 1994, Capcom brought us another version of SF2, Grandmaster Challenge. This was pretty similar with her predecessor, but every character had few new moves. No network play, but it brought us another character. Akuma (US version for Akuma and Gouki for Japanese Version). Talk about speed, this version offered three level of which, Turbo 1-3. The most important thing was, every character had one SUPER move.
That is all for Street Fighter Series. Yes, there are more SF series such as Zero 1-3, EX, SF3 and SF4. However, this topic is SNAFU'S FAVOURITE . So, I am just going to talk about the games that I like most. Sorry fellows
During the 90's, SNK played an important role in the field. To me, SNK and Capcom had a long rivalry during the 90's and the SNK finally striked back in of 1992 (Generally it was 1991, Fatal Fury 1). During that moment, they brought us Fatal Fury 2 This game had a depth relations with the rest of SNK's 2D fighting games , especially Art of Fighting and King of Fighters.
In the fall of 1993, SNK brought us an enhanced version of Fatal Fury 2, FF2 Special Bosses were playable, and they even brought us Ryo Sakazaki, the main character of Art of Fighting, as a hidden boss (As I recall, SNK was the first one to bring out the idea of HIDDEN BOSS)
In 1992, SNK brought us another masterpiece, the Art of Fighting However, only two characters were playable, Ryo and Robert. The nice thing in this game was, the magnify function. It made the graphic very very nice
In 1994, the sequal of Art of Fighting was introduced. Almost the same as the original AOF. It introduced Geese Howard, the main villian in Fatal Fury series as the hidden boss. I personally thought that was a preparation for the story setting of the upcoming series, KING OF FIGHTERS
