42 年前 (1983 年 5 月 20 日)，蘇格蘭搖滾樂隊 Big Country 發行第三隻細碟 "In A Big Country"。“In a Big Country”是一首正能量滿瀉的歌。

1983年推出的”In a Big Country”，是蘇格蘭搖滾樂隊Big Country的首張專輯”The Crossing”裡的第三張single，亦是他們最成功和最為人熟悉的一首歌。內容是關於主角如何去鼓勵身邊那位意志消沉的朋友，要他走出陰霾，重新振作，希望在明天。如果你有朋友需要你的開解和鼓勵，送他這首歌是一個不錯的選擇。論正氣的程度，此曲好比我們七、八十年代的「前程錦繡」、「一點燭光」、「喝采」等等，但加了一點點”型”。



歌中的每一句歌詞都是安撫和鼓勵人心的説話，看看其中一段：

不如意事十常八九，跌倒了不緊要，最緊要的是能夠重新站起來向前望，朋友永遠在你左右。

此曲開首的大聲呼喝除了可以”鬧醒你”外，也有一種振𡚒人心的作用。再加上歌詞中的”come up screaming”，可以讓人藉着叫喊來”發泄”和”釋放”。

還有重複強調的”stay alive”。

不過，很諷刺地、也很可惜地在現實生活中，這首歌的創作人兼樂隊主音Stuart Adamson能醫不自醫，用歌聲去鼓勵別人的同時自己卻未能從陰霾中走出來。他酗酒、曾被控醉駕、經歷兩段失敗婚姻後導致情緒低落。結果當他在43歲(2001) 那年走上自毀之路，選擇了結束自己的生命。



“In a Big Country”有數個翻唱版，最新一個是2014年美國搖滾樂隊American Authors的版本，一個很不錯的翻唱版，雖然我還是喜歡原版多一些。
