Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, made the announcement today about the arrival of the new 3G iPhone.

Here is some summary info:

iPhone is targeted to be available in many countries (including HK) by July 11th, 2008.  USA suggested retail prices: $199 (US) for the 8GB model and $299 (US) for the 16GB model

"The updated phone measures 4.5 by 2.4 by 0.48 inches, now available in black or white (though the white is only available on the premium edition), and retains the same screen and basic design as the original. The headphone jack is finally raised flush with the rest of the phone."

If you have old iPhone, the new software will be available for you.

"not everyone will want--or need--to buy an iPhone 3G. For one thing, the much-anticipated iPhone 2.0 software upgrade that will enable the App Store for downloading applications, announced earlier this year, will be free to all first-generation-iPhone owners."

don't know if it will be locked... but it is made easier to swap out SIM cards when you travel from China to HK to Macau

"Greater International Support

From a multilingual keyboard that you can change out on the fly to a user-removable SIM card (a SIM-card ejector comes with the iPhone 3G), new features in this model make it much more viable for international use. Whether you need to access the Web while overseas, or you want to swap out your SIM card (presumably, after an unspecified period of time, AT&T will let its customers unlock the phone for international use, as the company has allowed with its more standard phones), this model is better than the original. Not all good news on the 3G iPhone...

Still terrible camera; no video recording; no MMS; unmanageable software keyboard;
I also prefer to see WiFi on the phone, like iPod Touch...
